PM Modi Responds to Trump’s “Will Always Be Friends” Remark

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warmly acknowledged former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comment that he and Modi “will always be friends.”

Trump’s remark came as part of his broader comments on maintaining good relations with world leaders he has worked with in the past. Responding to this, PM Modi said he “fully reciprocates” Trump’s sentiments, underlining the importance of India–U.S. ties and the personal rapport between the two leaders.

During Trump’s presidency, India and the United States strengthened cooperation in areas such as defense, energy, and trade. The two leaders were often seen highlighting their close relationship at major public events, including the “Howdy, Modi” rally in Houston and the “Namaste Trump” event in Ahmedabad.

Political observers note that even though Trump is no longer in office, his continued acknowledgment of Modi reflects the significance of the U.S.–India partnership on the global stage. Modi’s response, meanwhile, signals India’s intent to maintain cordial relations with all key American leaders, regardless of political changes in Washington.

The exchange of warm words between Trump and Modi has drawn attention in both countries, once again emphasizing the role of personal diplomacy in international relations.
